Eating out

We all eat out every once in a while, weather its a friends birthday, a date or just with the family. Here are some tips 4 ya just in case: want to eat out and not feel guilty! What can I do?

For all of you out there that are watching what you eat, eating out can often be stressful. Grabbing a bite to eat with friends, family or co-workers should be enjoyable. Whatever the reason is ~ spending time together or just getting away (different atmosphere) ~ going out to eat shouldn’t be full of guilt.

Most of us like eating out and it should be okay to fit into our lifestyles. The secret is what you choose.
The majority of places (restaurants, fast food and food stores) have options to pick from ~ the challenge is what to pick.

Now don’t get me wrong. You may have some obstacles to overcome in some places (for example, low sodium meals) but usually you can find something.

Here are some key points to think about next time you head out to grab a bite:
- Pick friendly places (health and nutrition friendly, that is!).
Know the menu ahead of time (makes it easier to choose a meal).
- Pick items that are grilled and broiled (not fried).
- Lean meats, fish, seafood, chicken are good protein sources.
- Opt for salad as the side dish (dressing on the side) – limit carb side items.
- Enjoy one roll from the bread basket or skip the basket (this one is tough to do!)
- Avoid heavy cream sauces
- Limit dessert or share one with the table (a few bites usually does the trick)

You may splurge a time or two, but for the most part stick to a meal that is balanced.
I opt for a healthy source of protein (grilled salmon or chicken), vegetable and a small salad. It's a simple meal, and it makes it easy for most restaurants to serve it up. Fast food can be tricky, but opt for the grilled meats, fruit offerings and side salads -- and stick to water! These are all simple items that can help keep the calories and fat limited.

Make going out all about the company you are with. No need to worry about what you eat – it can all work!
Bon appetit!

Hair secrets!

So.... It's not all about just being skinny, we also gotta take care of our hair, skin, nails... so on and so fourth. So here are some celeb secrets to beautiful hair:

1. When Julia Roberts decides to go curly, she scrunches her hair with a curl-enhancing gel just after shampooing, and she curls with a curling iron in a vertical direction.

2. Before she went crazy (and bald), Britney Spears treated her split ends with castor oil. She rubbed it between her palms and applied it to the ends.

3. Jennifer Aniston uses Mane 'n Tail shampoo once a week. This shampoo was originally marketed to silken the manes of show horses.

4. Tori Spelling loves to mix a tablespoon of lemon juice with a tablespoon of peroxide and apply it to damp hair. Then she sits out in the sun for 20 minutes to lighten it.

5. Carmen Electra mashes a ripe avocado, puts it in her hair and then sits out in the sun for half an hour. After rinsing, she's left with soft and shiny hair.

Beating Water Weight!

Go Bananas

banana1.jpg

Bananas are a natural source of potassium, a nutrient needed to help the body balance fluids. Not a banana fan? Apricots, avocados and raisins are potassium-rich, too. Strive for 5 grams of potassium daily. Other nutrients to include each day through diet or supplements: 300-400 milligrams of magnesium (food sources include green vegetables, nuts, seeds) and 1000-1200 milligrams of calcium (orange juice, yogurt, tofu). Getting an adequate amount of each can help alleviate bloating.

Stock Up

Many foods and herbs promote digestion and fluid-shedding: yogurt, fiber-rich cereal, brown rice, cabbage and cranberry juice. Ginger and dandelion have a mild diuretic effect. Both are available in tea so you can brew yourself a slenderizing drink.

Ban Salt

Surplus salt makes the body retain fluids, but you'll need to do more than hide the salt shaker. Steer clear of high sodium foods like hot dogs, olives, salted nuts, pickles and many frozen foods. Be on the lookout for less obvious sources such as soy sauce, ketchup, deli meats and cheese.

Skip the Sugar

Too much sugar can raise insulin levels, decreasing the body's ability to excrete sodium. Avoid high sugar foods, like sweetened cereals, cakes, cookies, ice cream toppings and products containing high-fructose corn syrup, such as soda.

Don't Undereat

Of course a low-cal diet will help you lose weight, but shed too many calories and you could create water retention. Don't eat less than 1,200 calories per day and include lean protein, an important nutrient in short supply in very low-cal diets that helps stave-off water retention.

Move More

Your lymphatic system can't drain excess fluid out of tissues without body movement. Exercise about four times a week to relieve your body of extra fluid and salt through sweating and increased respiration.

Get Dry

Alcohol acts as a diuretic at first, making you lose excess water. But that loss can lead to dehydration, causing the body to preserve its fluids. Opt for virgin cocktails, or dilute that glass of wine with seltzer.

Get Wet

Take a swim
Water pressure forces fluid out of tissues and ultimately, the bladder. To emulate those results, take some of your workouts to the pool.

Fill Up

While it seems contradictory, drinking plenty of plain
water -- 8 to 10 glasses per day -- will flush salt and fluid out of your system. A well-hydrated body in less likely to retain water.

Spread It Out

Eat five or six small meals instead of three big meals. Nibbling or drinking at frequent intervals will keep you nourished and hydrated and will help avoid the rush of fluid to the tissues that may occur with eating large infrequent meals.

Choose Natural

Anything packaged-including that can of asparagus that seems so healthy-will give you more sodium than you need. Become a purveyor of the farmer's market. Ditch canned products and flavored packaged grains. Plan meals that include fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains.

Hello there skinny beauties!!!!! Ana is baaaack!!

Hello, hello! I came back a few days ago. It was awesome!!!! But..... with everything there is a price tag, and I gained a few nasty pounds. Ugh, but I went to the gym yesterday for 2 hours and burned 735 calories! Yay! But, I gotta get back on serious track. I missed this site. I love writing here, It keeps me motivated and keeps my mind off food. My aunt up in Uk always made me eat, she is an awesome cook, but please ma'am, can you NOT put fat on everything! Dang, seriously they like put fat and bacon on ham! LOL, but I made excuses that I felt sick and stuff, so I barely ate meat. But the sweets..... devil made me do it. So, now I gotta restrict. I'm gonna take it one day at a time because I don't want to loose it fast then gain even more.... been there, done that. Not a good experience. So..... yesterday I has an egg with whole wheat toast and green tea with honey for breakfast, apple for snack, salad for lunch, beef soup an apple and banana for dinner (after a nice work out.) I love watching a movie while jogging, it completely keeps me distracted. So ya, that kind of sums it up. I'm about 135 lbs right now. I gotta loose at least 15 pounds before July! Ill keep you informed... stay tuned. LUV YA!!!
